Privacy Policy
Yardsale Club, operated by Sunny Simms Inc. (“we”, “us”), helps you find, host, and shop yard, garage, and estate sales near you, list items, make offers, and coordinate in-person pickups. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
- Account info — your email address, the display name and profile photo you choose, and, if you sign in with Apple or Google, the basic profile those services share with us (name and email).
- Location — your device location, only when you use a location feature: centering the map, GPS check-ins at sales, route planning, and estimating drive time to a pickup. We store check-in coordinates to verify you visited a sale. We never collect location in the background.
- Content you post — sale listings, item photos and details, offers, reviews, ratings, finds, comments, and direct messages.
- Addresses you save — your home address and saved places, if you add them, to plan routes and to set the pickup location for items you list.
- Pickup & coordination data — when you arrange a pickup, we record its status, the time windows offered, the agreed payment method (as a label only — see below), and a rough arrival ETA, so both people can follow along.
- Payment info — if you buy a provider subscription or a listing boost, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We do not process payment for items sold between users.
- Basic device & usage data — standard logs (IP address, device/OS type, error reports) needed to run the service, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
How we use it
- Show sales and items near you on the map and in the Shop.
- Verify check-ins and award rewards points.
- Deliver messages, offers, pickup updates, and notifications between buyers and sellers.
- Compute your public rating from pickups you complete.
- Send transactional emails (confirmations, alerts you opt into).
- Keep the community safe — reviewing reported content and enforcing our rules.
What other users can see
Content you post publicly — listings, item photos, reviews, ratings, finds, and your display name and photo — is visible to other users. When you and another user arrange a pickup, the seller chooses when to release the pickup address; once released, the buyer can see it and get directions. Your messages are visible to the person you send them to. A rough arrival ETA is shared with the seller when a buyer is on the way — we never share live or continuous GPS location with another user.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run the app, each receiving just what it needs: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Mapbox (maps, geocoding, and drive-time estimates), Stripe (subscription and boost payments), Apple and Google (sign-in, if you use them), and our email provider for transactional email. We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users or the public.
What we don’t do
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not show third-party ads or use advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not track your location in the background. We do not share your data with data brokers.
Your choices
- Delete your account any time in Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and the data tied to it.
- Location permission can be revoked in your device settings; map browsing still works.
- Block users to stop seeing their content and prevent contact, and report content you believe breaks the rules.
- Edit or remove your listings, photos, and other content at any time.
California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it (described above), to request a copy of it, to correct it, and to delete it. You also have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing to opt out of. To make a request, email us at [email protected]; we will verify your identity using your account email before acting.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting your account removes it, except where we must retain limited records to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or prevent abuse. Content you delete (a listing, a post) is removed from the app immediately; ratings you left for others may remain but are disassociated from your account.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information — encrypted connections, hashed credentials, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data safe and to notify you if something goes wrong.
Children
Yardsale Club is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes & contact
We’ll update this policy as the app evolves and note the new effective date here; for material changes we’ll give more prominent notice in the app. Questions or privacy requests: [email protected].
